CAR-T cell therapy featured on 7News
Sam Neill and Geoff Nyssen have spoken on 7News about the CAR-T cell therapies that helped them beat cancer. After more than 5 years of chemotherapy that ultimately failed to control their blood cancers, both received living drugs (CAR-T cells) made from their own immune systems by engineering them to be able to find their cancer. Sam Neill says "It's science at its best" and Geoff Nyssen speaks about having to go to the US to get his therapy.
At AdAlta we are working to bring these remarkable therapies to Australian solid cancer patients (of which there are 10 times more than there are blood cancer patients). Our first product, BZDS1901, is a first in class CAR-T cell therapy for mesothelioma (infamous for its association with asbestos) and early clinical trials in China have resulted in two patients now with zero detectable tumors, something that is incredibly difficult to achieve. We are very excited to be working towards making this therapy available to Australian patients.
